Every renovation reaches the same argument: the space needs dividing, and nobody wants to lose the light. A glass partition is the answer to both, and it is far more flexible than most people realise.

It divides without closing

A stud wall takes a room and makes two smaller, darker ones. A glass partition takes the same room and gives you separation — acoustic, thermal, visual — while every square foot still reads as part of the whole.

In a house that means a home office you can actually work in without cutting the living room in half, or a wine room, gym or study carved out of a basement that would otherwise feel like a basement.

It is reversible in a way a wall is not

Framing, drywalling, taping, painting and then undoing it later is expensive twice. A partition is installed in a day and can be reconfigured. For commercial tenants that difference decides the fit-out budget.

The glass options are the same as our railings

Regular clear, super clear Starfire, Euro grey, bronze and over twenty further colours, in tempered, laminated and tempered laminated grades. Acid-etched and satin finishes give privacy without giving up light, which is the usual answer for a bathroom or a bedroom wall.

Add a slim powder-coated steel frame in any of thirty-four colours and you have the black-framed look that has been in every interiors magazine for a decade, built properly rather than bought in a kit.

Where we would not use one

Where you need a full acoustic seal — a recording room, a media room with a subwoofer, a bedroom against a busy hall. Glass does a lot but it is not a double stud wall with insulation in it, and we will tell you so rather than sell you one.
